Receive Antenna Termination Resistor with built in surge protector.
To make a receive antenna unidirectional, it must be terminated at the far end with a resistor equal to it’s characteristic impedance.
The resistors used for this purpose must be of the low inductance type (no wire-wound power resistors) and must have high overload (over-voltage) capabilities.
Regular carbon film or metal film resistors often suffice for short term experiments, but are not very long lasting at long-time use.
Lightning discharges in the immediate vicinity, as well as static charges will damage such resistors very quickly.
ON7FU “ Terminating Resistors” employ “High Surge” resistors, paralleled with a gas-discharge “Surge Arrestor”, capable of shorting several kiloamps of surge current to earth.
The surge arrestor also helps in protecting your valuable beverage antenna impedance transformer and receiver against overvoltages.
Upon request, different resistor values can be supplied, compatible with Beverage, EWE, FLAG, PENANT, DHDL, K9AY and other low band receiving antenna types.
